Preparation matters. The days leading up to your session can significantly influence your experience. Here’s how to set yourself up well.
The Week Before
Physical Preparation
Your body is part of this experience. Treat it well in the days before:
- Eat nourishing foods — Whole foods, vegetables, adequate protein. Avoid heavily processed foods.
- Stay hydrated — More water than usual.
- Rest well — Prioritize sleep. Fatigue can make experiences more challenging.
- Limit alcohol and caffeine — Ideally abstain for 2-3 days before.
- Exercise gently — Movement helps, but don’t exhaust yourself.
Mental Preparation
- Create space — Clear your calendar around the session. Reduce commitments.
- Reflect on your intention — What draws you to this experience? What do you hope to explore, understand, or release?
- Address practical concerns — Handle any pressing responsibilities so your mind can be present.

Setting Your Intention
An intention is not a goal. It’s a direction, a question, an area of exploration.
Good intentions might sound like:
- “I want to understand my relationship with grief”
- “I’m curious about my creative blocks”
- “I want to connect more deeply with myself”
- “I’m open to whatever needs to emerge”
Avoid rigid expectations. The experience will be its own teacher.
Preparing Your Life
The integration period is as important as the session itself. Consider:
- Taking the next day off work
- Asking a friend or partner to be available if you need support
- Clearing your schedule of demanding obligations for 2-3 days
- Having nourishing food ready at home
Preparation questions? Your facilitator will review all of this during your intake conversation.
