History

From The Coffee Joint to AlmaDose

Our story starts at 1130 Yuma Court in Denver's La Alma-Lincoln Park neighborhood, where this space originally operated as The Coffee Joint. We opened during Denver's early social-consumption pilot era, when the city was beginning to test what legal, regulated on-site consumption could look like in practice.

In 2018, The Coffee Joint became known as part of Denver's first wave of licensed social-consumption spaces, operating next to 1136 Yuma and helping define how a community-centered lounge could function within the rules. The model was never about selling cannabis inside the lounge itself. It was about creating a compliant, welcoming place for adults to gather, learn, and consume responsibly.

Those early years shaped how we think about this work today: clear boundaries, strong operational discipline, and a practical approach to education. The constraints mattered and so did the culture. From the beginning, the space was built around transparency, safety, and helping people understand what responsible use looks like.

As Denver's legal framework evolved, so did the purpose of the space. What started as The Coffee Joint laid the foundation for a more focused support model centered on intentional use, preparation, and integration rather than a general lounge experience.

Today, AlmaDose carries that history forward. We still believe in education, clarity, and responsible access, but our work is now centered on microdosing support: screening, structure, and integration for people who want a grounded, safety-first approach.
