Psilocybin use exists on a spectrum. Understanding the difference between microdosing and macrodosing helps you choose the right approach for your goals and risk profile.

Microdose (Sub-Perceptual)

Typical range: about 0.1 to 0.3g dried mushrooms (individual variation applies)

Common characteristics:

  • No strong intoxication or visual effects
  • Subtle shifts in mood, focus, and emotional regulation
  • Integrated into normal daily life
  • Evaluated through trends over weeks, not single-day intensity

Macrodose (Perceptual to High)

Typical range: above microdose levels, often with clearly perceptual effects

Common characteristics:

  • Noticeable alteration of perception and cognition
  • Potentially intense emotional or psychological experiences
  • Requires a different preparation and support model
  • Not designed for normal daily functioning

Why We Focus on Microdosing

AlmaDose is a microdosing-only practice. We focus on:

  • Careful screening
  • Conservative protocol design
  • Ongoing check-ins and data-informed adjustments
  • Integration into daily routines

We do not offer high-dose, ceremony-style, or macrodose services.

Choosing the Right Path

Microdosing may be a fit if you want:

  • A gradual approach
  • Lower-intensity experimentation
  • Structured support over time
  • Practical, day-to-day integration

Macrodosing is a different modality with different risks and requirements.

Important Considerations

  • Individual response varies widely.
  • More is not better.
  • Safety, context, and follow-up matter more than novelty.
  • If you have medical or psychiatric concerns, consult a qualified healthcare professional.
